Kitty van de Rijt was born in May1960 and grew up in the Dutch town of Veldhoven. She started taking lessons about 15 years ago and soon after, her instructor advised her to exhibit. It was during these years of private lessons that she developed her own style.

"In my work I am communicating with the viewer and the world at large." My works are the visualisation of an idea. The colours and composition convey the mood of the idea. The multi- layering invites the viewer to look inwards and draw on his/ her own emotion.

Each painting starts out as a blank canvas on which colours and composition seem to come to life on their own. Every aspect of life can inspire Kitty for creating a painting.

Kitty is skilled in several disciplines, but she has a favourite: acrylic paint on linen.Het liefst werkt zij met acryl op linnen. She also sculpts in natural materials like wood, bronze and stone. The designs take shape out of respect for nature. She allowa the structure of the material, the natural seams and grains to determine the final result.

Kitty has already achieved widespread recognition through permanent and temporary exhibitions of her work in the Netherlands and abroad. Besides creating her own art, she also works on commission.
